Up River "Rough Ground" 7" Inch Vinyl Black Splatter
Originally released in 2012, Rough Ground captures Brighton's Up River at an early and defining moment in their career, delivering an intense and deeply emotional collection of melodic hardcore. Combining desperate vocals, driving guitar melodies, aggressive rhythms, and an unmistakable sense of urgency, the band establishes a sound rooted in the raw sincerity of the British underground hardcore scene.
Drawing comparisons to bands such as Defeater and Modern Life Is War, Rough Ground balances relentless aggression with moments of atmospheric tension and heartfelt vulnerability. Every track reflects the band's passion for emotionally honest songwriting, blending powerful hardcore intensity with a darker, more introspective approach.
Released on 7" vinyl by Anchors Aweigh Records in 2012, this special Black Splatter vinyl edition represents an essential early chapter in the band's discography, capturing the energy and ambition that would shape their subsequent releases.
More than a decade later, Rough Ground remains a compelling document of early 2010s British melodic hardcore, an intense and deeply personal release for longtime fans and collectors of underground hardcore vinyl.
